It uses a camera to pick up road signs however I have noticed that some have changed back or not changed at all presumably overridden by GPS.
On one of my local roads it changed from a 30 to 40MPH and after a quarter of a mile changes back to 30 and at the reminder sign resets back to 40.
In a local village at national speed limit signs it remains at 30MPH on two roads, again it must be GPS controlled.
